Common Men's Health Risks and Disorder

There are certain medical health risks and disorders that are common issue in men’s health. High incidence of men suffering from particular diseases and disorders are reported that are known to significantly affect the quality of life they live. An understanding about these conditions can help men learn how to positively manage their symptoms in order to live a much better quality life.

Heart disease is the most common culprit of high incidence of sufferings and death among men. There are different causes why men become susceptible to this medical problem. Lifestyle plays an important factor that contributes to the risk of heart diseases among men. Smoking, unhealthy diet, alcohol consumption, and stress can increase the chance of developing heart diseases. Prevention is important by maintaining a healthy weight, stop smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages, getting more exercise and good nutrition can delay or prevent the occurrence of heart disease among men.

Men are also at high risk to specific types of cancers like colon cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer and lung cancer. Again, lifestyle factors are always a contributing factor why cancers occur among men. Smoking is especially a major cause for lung cancer. Early detection of cancers in men is important as cancer can be manageable when it is treated at its early stage. Men should always make cancer screening a priority as part of their annual check-up for early diagnosis of cancer and obtain immediate medical treatment to manage their condition.

Erectile dysfunction is another common disability affecting men globally. The risk for developing erectile dysfunction or impotence is higher with age. Impotence is usually common among men in their 40’s and the risk doubles when they reach the age of 70. While erectile dysfunction forms part of the aging process, young men can become susceptible in experiencing the condition owing to lifestyle factors and the existence of medical condition where impotence becomes one of its complications.

Stroke is another men’s health issue that result to disabilities. The risk factors for stroke can be preventable but there are some causes of strokes that one cannot control such as family history, race and age. Living a healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition and exercise remain to be the effective preventive measures against stroke.

Treatment and management of the symptoms of these medical conditions and disabilities are essential in order for men to live a quality life. While advanced treatment and medications are now available to help men overcome these common health risks, it is always best to observe preventive measures than treating them.

A Rare Cancer Type: Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma as the title shows is a cancer type, quite rare, which attacks the mesothelium. The mesothelium is a thin membrane, which forms the lining of some of the body cavities: the pleura (in the thoracic cavity), the peritoneum (in the abdominal cavity) and the pericardium (the fibroserous sac that encloses the heart) and the tunica vaginalis (serous membrane covering the front and sides of the testis and epididymis).
The mesothelium is of two kinds: visceral mesothelium, covering the internal organs and parietal mesothelium, the layer covering the body walls.

Mesothelioma is caused by a longer exposure to asbestos, which is a naturally occurring silicate mineral. If one inhale this mineral and it is exposed to it long enough, it causes severe illnesses.

Some of the general mesothelioma symptoms are as follows:

* Cough
* Shortness of breath
* Chest pain
* Fatigue
* Amemia
* Weight loss
* Cachexia
* Abdominal swelling and pain

The three main mesothelioma types are:

* Benign Mesothelioma
* Peritoneal Mesothelioma
* Pleural Mesothelioma

Other rarely occurring mesothelioma types: epithelial, pericardial, biphasic, cystic, multicystic, liver, brain, papillary, sarcomatoid, adenocarcinoma, desmoplastic and testicular mesothelioma.

There are three main ways to treat mesothelioma cancer: surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. During surgery the cancer cells are removed, after surgery mesothelioma doctors usually use radiation therapy and chemotherapy. The combination of these three methods usually helps extending life for five more years at most of the patients. There are available additional treatments as well such as anti-angiogenesis drugs, gene therapy, immunotherapy, intraoperative photodynamic therapy and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation therapy.

Unhealthy Breath And many Of It's Causes

Unhealthy Breath And many Of It’s Causes

Bad breath is mostly a common medical condition which greately impacts the daytoday activities of lots of people. The offenssive odor in the mouth is usually unpleasent to those that come inside close hitting the ground with bad breathers. The challenge will be doubled by way of psychological trauma producing depression. The sufferers because of this problem wil be isolated through the society. This could even lead to marital disharmony.

Practically speaking all humanbeings are badbreathres. Oral cavity contains scores of anaerobic germs like fusobacterium along with actinomyces which unfortunately acts in the protein associated with food elements and putrifies these. This process brings about the enhancement of offenssive gas like hydrogen sulphide, methyl mescaptan, cadaverin, skatol, putrescine ect inducing bad odor. If by mouth hygiene is absolutely not maintained correctly all are affected from negative breath. Many people control the following by normal brushing, language cleaning together with gargling. Even right after maintining cleanliness inside the mouth some individuals suffer from offenssive smell as a consequence of various brings about which really need to be diagnosed and treated properly.

Some common factors bad flow of air.

1) Weak oral personal hygiene:

If oral hygiene isn’t maintained appropriately the jaws becomes a seat for innumerable bacteria that produce offenssive un wanted gas by degrading the meals debris. Bad breath is significant in people do not brush their own teeth on a regular basis and thoroughly clean their mouth after every last food. Snacks applied inbetween meals could also produce terrible breath because of improper maintenance. Badbreath is usually common in many in that morning at waking. Whilst sleeping there is actually less production of saliva. Saliva includes some antibacterial attributes which help to keep the jaws clean. Saliva conains air molecules which can be make mouth area aerobic. So the reduction with it’s quantity while asleep makes a favourable state for anaerobic germs.

2) Foods habits:

The main factor for bad smell is a result of degradation with protein with the bacteria and hence all foods rich in protein favors bad air. Meat, perch, milk products and services, eggs, cakes, nuts, pear and additionally ect can lead to bad air. Some nutrition articles will produce particular variety of smell which can be unpleasent. Organic onion can produce frequent bad smell. It is actually said an apple per day keeps a doctor away, a raw onion daily keeps most people away. Eating groundnuts could also produce terrible smell. However in the event that proper cleaning is carried out smell could be reduced without regard for the design of food. Irregularity around timing associated with food can also produce poor breath. Small foodstuff articles ingested in between the food item can as well produce poor smell.

3) Biofilm:

There is formation to a thin sticky shell called biofilm over the tongue together with oral mucosa. This coating is thick over the posterior part of the language where a lot of gram unfavorable bacteriae are noticed. The heavy coating relating to the tongue is always associated by using badbreath. A thin biofilm tends to make anaerobic state favourable with regard to bacterial growth.

4) Mouth caries:

This can be a destructive system causing decalcification along with distruction of enamel together with dentine causing cavitisation for the tooth. These include produced mainly through the lactobacilli. Food airborne debris are lodged inside these kind of cavities as they are putrified by the anaerobic micro organism producing bad smell. Normal brushing will never remove your food debris easily and hence they tend to be putrified completely. Caries are standard in schoolgoing children and in people donot keep up proper common hygiene. Calcium and vitamin deficiency may also predispose caries.

5) Gingivitis:

Gum is often a mucus tissue layer with assisting connective tissue covering the tooth showing borders of the jaw. The primary function of gum can be protection. Gingivitis is the inflammation within the gum. As a result of various reasons gum tissue get infected producing swelling, pain and being let go. If the trouble become worse the problem spread to peridontal area leading to continuous relieve called pyorrhoea. Some times the infection goes full producing alveolar abscess with discharge of pus. Infection will reach a bone producing osteomyelitis. Each one of conditions will produce offenssive fragrance.

6) Nicotine gum retraction:

In the event the gums retract through the teeth a gap is developed which will lodge foodstuff particles and additionally cause negative breath.

7) Oral plaques together with tartar uric acid; Plaques and tartar is normally deposited mainly inside the gaps between the teeth and additionally gum. This will provide shelter with the food dirt and micro organism causing bad breath.

8) Ulcerative lesions& coatings:

Almost most ulcerative lesions in the mouth are involving bad breath. These lesions may be caused as a result of bacteria, malware, food allergic reaction or as a result of autoimmune symptoms. Apthous ulcer is the commonest amoung ulcerative wounds. Others can be herpes, yeast infections, vincents angina, infectious mononucleosis, scarlet throwing up, diphtheria, drug reactions and additionally ect. Dangerous ulcers generate severe negative breath. Just about all fungal infections produce white colored coating(candidiasis). Leucoplakia is often a white heavy patch relating to the mucus membrane with the mouth & tongue. It is believed as your precancerous situation. Offenssive oxygen is with these conditions.

9) Diseases of the salivary glands:

Saliva is quite useful to supply oxygen to parts of the oral hole. Even a good thin film of liner called biofilm can perform an anaerobic condition in the mouth. Saliva will wet a lot of these layers in addition to make a aerobic condition which is unfavourable for any bacteria. Almost any condition that reduces this production from saliva are able to increase microbe activity. Some times your salivary duct can be obstructed by way of stones and tumors. Cancer in the salivary gland is affiliated with offenssive odour. In suppurative parotitis purulant dischrge in the mouth results in bad flow of air.

10) Tonsillitis:

Tonsils are a pair of lymphoid tissue tucked within the broad wall involving oropharynx. Inflammation with the tonsil is considered tonsillitis. Bad breath is observed in each of those acute together with chronic tonsillitis. Quinsy and also peritonsillar abscess are also able to produce negative breath.

11) Tonsillar plaques & tonsillar fluid:

If unhealthy breath persists even though maintaining adequate oral hygeine there’s possibility of that condition. Serous liquid secreated through the folds of tonsil is quite offenssive. Some patients complain that they hawk a few cheesy materials in the throat; which are very offenssive within nature. Most are formed contained in the tonsillar crypts that have thousands from bacteriae. In such conditions tonsillectomy grants noticiable rid of bad oxygen.

12) Pharyngitis& pharyngial abscess:

Pharynx can be a fibromuscular tv which forms the upper the main digestive & respiratory system. Inflmmation for the pharynx is considered pharyngitis, caused mainly just by bacteria and viruses. Bad breath occurs in pharyngitis along with other signs prefer cough and throat irritation. Abscesses inside wall from pharynx are also able to produce offenssive being let go of pus on the throat. 13) Dentures:

Denture owners may make a complaint about poor smell as a result of lodgement with small food debris involving. Proper brushing will not be possible in denture clients especially fixed dentures.

14) Cigarettes:

Tobacco biting is linked to bad breath. The fragrance of strong tobacco itself can be unpleasent designed for others. Strong tobacco can annoy the mucus membrane and result in ulcers and coatings. Gingivitis and additionally pyorrhoea are widespread in tobacco smoking chewers. Tartar is normally deposited on the teeth mainly near the gums. Smoke chewers acquire gastric chemical p with eructations. All these causes offenssive smell.

15) Smokes:

Smokers also have bad stink. It can also produce lesions within the mouth & lungs causing poor breath. Smoking increases fractional co2 in the mouth & reduces oxygen amount, causing a good favourable issue for bacteria. Smoking reduses desires for food & hunger hence acid peptic health problems is common in cycle smokers.

16) Lesions within the nose & ear canal:

Bad breath is occasionally welcomed in sinusitis(infection with para sinus sinuses). In the case of post nose dripping bad breath is common as a result of presence of protein in the discharges. These meats are degraded with the bacteria. Infection in the middle ear along with discharge from pus in to the throat through the eustachian tube(passage with middle ear to your throat)can at the same time cause offenssive odour. Chronic rhinitis(infection from mucus membrane of nose) together with forign bodies within the nose are also able to produce negative smell inside the expired oxygen.

17) Diabetes mellitus:

Mostly all diabetic patients suffer with bad flow of air. Coated language, ulcers &coatings with the mouth, increased glucose level inside tissues ect are responsible for bad flow of air. Bacterial increase in diabetic patient is quite faster as compared to non diabetic all those.

18) Fevers:

Bad air is typical in almost all fevers. Perhaps even an serious fever can produce bad breath. Severe unhealthy breath is viewed in typhoid. Various infectious health conditions like Tuberculosis, AIDS ect produce bad stink. 19) Fasting & dehydration:

Dry up mouth wedding favours bacterial process. So almost any condition which produce dryness with the mouth will make the respir offenssive. Eventhough the meal particles are referred to by produce unhealthy breath, fasting are also able to produce exactly the same. Production of saliva is usually reduced in the course of fasting. Chewing and additionally swallowing also helps to keep the mouth clean.

20) Bedridden persons:

Bedridden patients suffer the pain of offenssive breath due to thick coating on the tongue. water intake is usually limited with these persons. Regurgitation of food aggravates the illness. Since they will talk less aeration within the oral tooth cavity is reduced which favors anaerobic bacteria to turn into active.

21) Health problems of stomach & esophagus:

Eructation of gas together with food generate unpleasent smell. Abnormality inside function from lower sphincter allows the nutrition to regurgitate in excess causing unhealthy breath. Bad breath is in addition common around gastritis, gastric ulcer along with cancer associated with stomach.

22) Small intestinal diseases:

Bad air is typical in patients suffering from ulcerative wounds of bowel like ulcerative collitis.. Many other diseases usually are malabsorption issue intestinal tuberculosis, peritonitis ect.

23) Health problems of lungs:

Lung disorders like pneumonia, lung abscess, continual bronchitis, bronchiectasis, tuberculosis, lung melanoma ect are able to produce poor odor at the time of expiration.

24) Poorly liver disorders:

Ailing liver diseases enjoy hepatitis, cirrhosis, can result in bad oxygen. Gall bladder health conditions with vomiting also brings about unpleasent odor.

25) Psychiatric patients:

Bad respir is standard in psychotic patients as a consequence of poor personal hygiene, irregular foods habits, a smaller amount water intake and ect.

26) Somatisation ailment:

This can be described as psychiatric disorders charecterised through the presence to a physical indicator that urge a medical related illness. These patients have physical conditions like ache, nausea complicated respiration, bad smell ect. Treatment plans is clinically diagnosed after detailed study of the customer with just about all investigations. Since this is a psychiatric disorders it ought to be managed with a psychological approach.

Detecting Prostate Cancer Can Save Your Life

Prostate cancer is one of the major health problems for men who are over 50. There are almost a quarter of a million new cases diagnosed in the United States every year. Rarely found in younger men, most experts agree that almost all men who are over the age of 80 have some signs of prostate cancer. For reasons that aren’t fully understood, prostate cancer is rarely found outside the United States or countries with a western diet.

Family history seems to play a large role in predicting who will be diagnosed with prostate cancer but researchers can’t say for sure who will get it or why. Almost all experts agree that diet is a key factor in developing the disease and men who consume large quantities of animal fats such as red meat are the most likely to be diagnosed. In countries that routinely consume a large quantity of fruits, rice and vegetables the disease is almost unknown.

The prostate gland is an organ that is responsible for producing most of the fluid in sperm. An organ that is approximately the size of a golf ball, it surrounds the beginning of the urethra as it leaves the bladder. As we age, the prostate gland normally gets bigger and this can restrict the urethra and slow down the flow of urine leading to frequent urination, often at night. This condition known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) can be uncomfortable and annoying but is not related to prostate cancer and isn’t life threatening.

The diagnosis of BPH is easy to make but the signs of prostate cancer don’t show up until the disease is quite advanced. Prostate cancer develops without any physical symptoms and without any physical discomfort. If the cells of the prostate start to grow and multiply out of control they can form a tumor in the prostate. If this growth goes on long enough these cells can travel to other parts of the body and develop into tumors there as well. The bones and lymph nodes can become cancerous because of these tumors.

Prostate cancer is routinely curable when it’s caught before these cells have left the prostate gland. Fortunately, the vast majority of men detect it in these early stages. Once the cancer has spread to other organs the cancer is not curable and treatment must be started immediately to keep it from getting any worse.

So, what can you do to prevent the incidence of prostate cancer? Although the exact cause of prostate cancer isn’t known there are some things you can do help your chances. A vegetarian diet or a diet that contains minimal animal fat seems to slow down the growth of prostate tumors. Some foods like soybeans and tomatoes are also known to inhibit or prevent tumors. If you are an American male who is over the age of 50 you would be wise to go for a yearly physical examination that includes a prostate exam. Diagnosing the disease is routine and catching it early is the key to curing it.

Common Causes Of Vaginal Infection and Its Treatment

Vaginal infection is common amongst women and is marked by inflamed vagina associated with itching in the vagina, irritation, discharge from vagina and also bad odor. When the balance between the hormonal changes and the bacteria found in the vagina is imbalanced, it created vaginal infection. This imbalance can be caused due to contraceptives or birth control pills, antibiotics, STD’s, having multiple sex partners and other reasons.

Types of vaginal infection
There are 2 types of vaginal infections namely bacterial and fungal infection. Bacterial infection can be caused in case of pregnancy, with usage of IUD device in the vagina and due to multiple sexual partners. Fungal infection can cause more serious damage as it can spread to other parts of the body such as skin, heart, throat etc. Those who do not have a very strong immune system can be affected more seriously.

Vaginal infection symptoms
Some of the common symptoms of vaginal infection are burning sensation, itching and discharge from vagina. In case of yeast or fungal infection, women may suffer pain during urination with extreme itching. Pain itself is not a symptom. If it persists, it is recommended to see your doctor immediately.

Treatment
Out of the various options available for vaginal infection, Vagifem is one of them. It is used to relieve conditions related to vagina such as itching, discharge and burning sensation. It is a natural estrogen which helps women with menopause. After menopause, there is lack of estrogen which causes dryness in vagina resulting in itching.
It works by replacing the naturally occurring estrogen hormone. Vagifem tablets can be inserted in the Vagina with the use of a one-time disposable applicator which comes with the medicine. The applicator should be disposed of after used once. If in case the medicine is not properly inside the vagina and is released from the applicator before getting injected, it should not be reused.

Vagifem side effects
Like every other medicine, this one too has its side effects such as pain in the back, headache, pain in the stomach, fungal infection, cold etc. Before using this medicine, you must tell your doctor if you have the following conditions such as; cancer, increased cholesterol, increased blood sugar, heart problem, hypertension, kidney problem etc.
Women who take this medicine should avoid smoking as smoking can trigger the side effects caused due to this medicine. It is also available in the form of Vagifem cream.

Recap
Vagifem is used to treat vaginal infections and post-menopausal symptoms. It is available in the form of tablets and cream and can be obtained from a local drug store with a prescription or online from Canadian Online Pharmacy.

There Are Over 10 Different Types of This Cancer

Breast cancer can affect women and men alike and is the second most common type of cancer worldwide next to lung cancer. Breast cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer death worldwide. Among women, breast cancer is the most common cancer worldwide. Breast cancer is more prominent in industrially developed countries than in countries not industrially developed.

Breast cancer symptoms can be detected when a lump, tumor, or cyst grows large enough to either be felt or seen on a mammogram. Sometimes a tumor isn’t found for many years. Breast cancer symptoms don’t often manifest themselves until the cancer is already in its later stages of growth, and may have already metastasized to other more vital areas of the body. That is why it is so important for women to regularly get checked.

Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer after lung cancer (10.4% of all cancer incidence, both sexes counted) and the fifth most common cause of cancer death. Worldwide, breast cancer is by far the most common cancer amongst women, with an incidence rate more than twice that of colorectal cancer and cervical cancer and about three times that of lung cancer. However breast cancer mortality worldwide is just 25% greater than that of lung cancer in women. In 2005, breast cancer caused 502,000 deaths worldwide (7% of cancer deaths; almost 1% of all deaths).The number of cases worldwide has significantly increased since the 1970s, a phenomenon partly blamed on modern lifestyles in the Western world.

All the treatment for breast cancer including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, and vaccine therapy, has their own side effects. But women with breast cancer experience more side effects from chemotherapy. According to reports, some breast cancer patients treated with chemotherapy experience congestive heart failure after some months. But the rate of cardiac toxicity is lower with some recently found chemotherapy agents. Women undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer may experience side effects such as infections, low blood counts, dehydration, nausea, fever, etc. Some may even require hospitalization or emergency department care.

There are ways to prevent breast cancer or help to prevent the condition. Having more children, breastfeeding, and exercising three times per week for an hour each time. This exercise regimen has been found to lower the risk of breast cancer by up to 40 percent. High intake of soy, folic acids, and avoiding secondhand smoke also help to prevent the development of breast cancer.

Metaplastic carcinoma: Met plastic carcinoma represents less than 1 percent of all newly diagnosed breast cancers. This lesion tends to remain localized and contains several different types of cells that are not typically seen in other forms of breast cancer. Prognosis and treatment is the same as for invasive ductal carcinoma.

Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer in women and the second most common cause of cancer death in women in the U.S. While the majority of new breast cancers are diagnosed as a result of an abnormality seen on a mammogram, a lump or change in consistency of the breast tissue can also be a warning sign of the disease. Heightened awareness of breast cancer risk in the past decades has led to an increase in the number of women undergoing mammography for screening, leading to detection of cancers in earlier stages and a resultant improvement in survival rates.

Most lumps turn out to be fibrocystic changes. The term “fibrocystic” refers to fibrosis and cysts. Fibrosis is the formation of fibrous (or scar-like) tissue, and cysts are fluid-filled sacs. Fibrocystic changes can cause breast swelling and pain. This often happens just before a period is about to begin. Your breasts may feel lumpy and, sometimes, you may notice a clear or slightly cloudy nipple discharge.

Drinking Tea May Guard Against Ovarian Cancer

Consuming two or more cups of tea a day over a period of time may reduce the risk of ovarian cancer dramatically, suggests a new study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine. And each additional cup of tea per day appears to provide significantly more protection, investigators found.

Because tea is the second most-consumed beverage in the world, its potential health benefits could have important implications for human health and disease prevention, says the Tea Council of the USA.

“An abundance of research suggests that tea may play a role in the reduction of risk of cardiovascular disease and various types of cancer,” notes Joe Simrany, president of the trade organization. “These new findings suggest that drinking tea regularly may help to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer as well. This is good news and points to yet another area where tea may have a positive effect on health.”

46 Percent Lower Ovarian Cancer Risk

Researchers at Sweden’s National Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet, examined the association between tea consumption and risk of ovarian cancer in 61,057 women 40 to 76 years of age who took part in the population-based Swedish Mammography Cohort.

The participants completed a validated 67-item food frequency questionnaire at enrollment between 1987 and 1990, and were followed for cancer incidence through December 2004.

At baseline, 68 percent of the participants reported drinking tea — primarily black tea — at least once a month. During 15.1 years of follow-up, 301 women were diagnosed as having epithelial ovarian cancer. The researchers found tea consumption of two or more cups of tea per day had a significant inverse association with risk of ovarian cancer.

Specifically, women who drank two or more cups of tea per day experienced a 46 percent lower risk of ovarian cancer, compared with women who drank no tea. Each additional cup of tea was associated with an 18 percent decreased risk of ovarian cancer.

Additional Health Benefits

A multitude of research studies suggest that drinking tea may contribute to overall health. Potential benefits include the following:

– Reduced risk of heart attack and stroke, and improved blood vessel function;

– Less risk of certain cancers, including colorectal and skin cancers;

– Decreased levels of oxidative DNA damage and increases in antioxidant levels in the bloodstream; and

– Oral health benefits — researchers believe certain compounds in tea may inhibit bacteria that cause bad breath and plaque, and the fluoride content in tea supports healthy tooth enamel.

Prognosis Predicts Your Prostate Cancer Life Expectancy

Although prostate cancer attacks only ageing males above fifty years, then too prostate cancer life expectancy is higher than those people who suffer from other types of cancer. The main reason for the high chances of longevity is the slow growth rate of the cancer cells within the prostate glands. Thus, a person suffering from this disease has less chances of facing fatal consequences.

The discovery of modern medicines and advanced mode of treatment along with preventive measures has also helped in increasing prostate cancer life expectancy. However, the best person who can tell you exactly about your life span after completing your treatment is, your doctor. His calculation is authentic as he takes into consideration practical factors like your health, age, obesity, and stage of the disease.

Nevertheless, some other factors affect your life span after you complete your course of treatment. Manipulating and controlling these factors are totally in your hands. You have to take the firm resolution of sincerely following all the restrictions imposed by your doctor, and bring a change in your lifestyle.

Moreover, there are other changes, which you have to bring in your life, if you want to live longer in spite of suffering from this disease. The main changes, which you have to bring in your lifestyle is to change your eating habits and inculcate the habit of regular exercise. You should strictly avoid foods that are high in protein and follow all the precautions emphasized by your doctor.

After the detection of the disease, the main thing that a patient wants to find out is the prostate cancer survival rate. However, the best person you can consult about this matter is your doctor as he can calculate the expectancy or survival based on facts available with him through tests and other observations about his patient.

Therefore, you should always talk with your doctor about the prognosis of the disease. Through the prognosis, you can get the exact result about your life span in the next five to ten years. The prostate cancer survival report given by your doctor is the most reliable as he takes into consideration practical facts like your age, health condition, stage of the disease, and obesity level while preparing the prognosis.

You can increase your prostate cancer survival after recovery with the help of the vaccination especially available for this disease. It may sound unusual but it is a fact as the vaccination has the capacity to break down the cancer cells and obstruct its growth. This helps to prevent the recurrence of this disease and raises your longevity.

Therefore, doctors recommend vaccination for all ageing males whether they are suffering from prostate cancer or not. Moreover, the growth rate of cancerous cells when they are within the prostate is very slow. Thus, it is easier to treat a patient suffering from this disease as the doctor gets enough time to take adequate measures to eradicate the disease and increase his patient’s prostate cancer life expectancy.

Is There A Preferred Way To Detect Breast Cancer? Both Digital And X-Ray Film Mammograms Can Help Save Lives

In 2006, more than 250,000 U.S. women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. This deadly disease will claim the lives of more than 40,000 friends, neighbors, mothers and daughters. These are staggering statistics.

However, breast cancer death rates are going down. This decline is largely attributed to the benefits of annual mammograms that enable physicians to detect cancer at its earliest stages, and improved treatment programs that help patients better manage their cancer.

Both digital and film-based mammography can identify breast disease in women who may have no obvious signs of breast cancer. Historically, mammograms have been conducted using medical X-ray film. Now, new digital imaging technologies are emerging that offer a complementary method for early detection of breast cancer.

The arrival of more digital imaging options sometimes can cause some patients to “wait it out” until their health care provider installs digital imaging systems. But the advice from physicians appears to be overwhelming: Do not wait for the latest digital technology. One of the most critical aspects for a full recovery is early detection, and it is far better to have any kind of mammogram than to delay or skip a mammogram entirely. The decision on which imaging technology to use should be a secondary issue that patients can discuss with their physicians.

“Digital technologies show great promise in helping to detect breast cancer in certain patients,” said Dr. John M. Lewin, Diversified Radiology of Colorado, a leader in providing technologically advanced radiology imaging. “In fact, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is considering relaxing guidelines that may make it easier for manufacturers of digital mammography systems to bring new products to market faster.”

Should the FDA adopt revised guidelines, it is possible that health care providers and patients could have access to a broader range of new digital mammography products earlier-and perhaps at a lower cost-as more competition among manufacturers may drive down prices of these systems.

One of the innovators of digital medical imaging systems is Eastman Kodak Company, which currently markets a digital mammography system for use in Europe, Latin America, Asia and other parts of the world. Kodak has applied to the FDA for approval to market this system in the U.S. and the company is conducting clinical trials of this system in the U.S. and Canada. “We applaud the FDA for examining ways to streamline the approval process for digital mammography products that may lead to increased adoption and improved access to these innovative systems,” said Michael Marsh, vice president, Kodak’s Health Group.

Given the benefits and improvements in both digital and film mammogram technology, there is more reason now than ever before to encourage mothers, grandmothers, sisters and friends to get an annual mammogram.

The American Cancer Society continues to recommend the importance of mammograms as a highly effective tool in the detection of breast cancer. What is critical is not the technology used to produce a mammogram, but ensuring that women age 40 and older have regular mammograms as part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

A Few Facts About A Colon Cleanse

In order to understand the importance of a colon cleanse, you need to understand the location and function of your colon. It is a critical part of the digestive system and performs some of the final tasks before solid waste is eliminated from the body. Water and salt are removed and fermentation of any remaining undigested waste is assisted by helpful bacteria.

Within the colon, there are four areas. The uppermost is the ascending colon, followed by the transverse, descending and finally the sigmoid colon. By the time the waste reaches the colon, the only nutrients left in the mass are potassium and some fat-soluble vitamins. Colons also removes water from the waste.

Colon cancer is a concern due to its prevalence. In the United States, it is the fifth most common cancer. Throughout the Western world, colon cancer is the third most common cause of cancer deaths. In part, this has been due to lack of screening tests until relatively recently. Now, screening tests are readily available to the general public at a low cost. Those who have increased risk factors should be screened. Early diagnosis has the best results for remission, treatment and cure.

A widely accepted theory for preventing colon cancer has been to eat more fiber. Recent studies have shown that while fiber may not be directly responsible for prevention of colon cancer, it is beneficial as part of a lifestyle diet that reduces caloric intake and consumption of red or processed meats. If you add exercise to the above changes in lifestyle, you are likely to live longer and enjoy the added years more.

The purpose of cleansing the colon is to remove the waste from the body. If your colon is full of waste, you will feel sluggish or fatigued. You will probably gain weight even when you are dieting. Toxins in the colon can lead to headaches, poor circulation, blocked arteries and poor nutrient absorption. Your skin is likely to look unhealthy and there is a general sense of malaise.

When you go through the process of detoxification of your colon, the process works by attaching to free radicals and carrying them out of your colon and into the rectum. Once your colon is not full of an unhealthy sludge, weight loss diets work better so your weight management should be more effective. Getting the toxins out is followed by replacing the flora with new good bacteria so the the positive effects continue.

A colon cleanse is not a difficult or painful process. It improves your overall health so that your body works more efficiently. Good health means you have a better chance of preventing some of the major diseases that shorten life and reduce quality of life.
